Willard H. Brusse

Willard H. Brusse, age 81, well known Auctioneer and Appraiser of 27 Ottawa Place, Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008. He was born June 25, 1927 in the Town of Lima, Sheboygan County, the son of the late William and Arlie (Wilterdink) Brusse. He married Ina Claire Shaurette Rittenhouse in Sheboygan on June 25, 1965. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2002.

He was self-employed as an Auctioneer, Appraiser and Real Estate Broker in the area for 50 years. He attended Sheboygan Falls Public Schools, Reisch Auction School, Wisconsin School of Real Estate, Waukesha Technical College, Lakeshore Technical College and was a former member of the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association and the American Association of Certified Appraisers. He served two years in the U.S. Navy and was a Life Member and Past Commander of VFW Post 9156. He and Ina volunteered at Meals on Wheels, he conducted many charitable auctions, and was always ready to help those in need. He was a member of Bethany Reformed Church and its Prime Timers Club. He enjoyed telling stories and poems.

He is survived by daughters Tina (Bret) Kummer of LaCrosse and Pamela (Rick) Weber of Sheboygan, sons Michael Rittenhouse of East Lansing, MI and Jeffrey Rittenhouse of Green Bay, five grandchildren Stacey (David) Pfau, Jason Snipes, Jessica Kerber, Lauren Kummer and Corbin Kummer, great grandchildren Hailee Kerber and Jordyn Pfau. Willard is further survived by brothers-in-law Ralph Jelenc, Dale Shaurette and George Coffeen, sisters-in-law Joanne Shaurette Kuebler, Judy Shaurette and Gerry Coffeen, and many nieces, nephews and a very special friend and associate appraiser, Richard G. Street.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ina, parents, a sister Dorothy Hengst Jelenc, a sister-in-law Virginia Coffeen, brothers-in-law Leonard Hengst, Harland Shaurette and Dr. Glen Shaurette.

Family and friends may call at Bethany Reformed Church, 1315 Washington Ave., Sheboygan on Monday, July 7, 2008 (today) from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 10-11 a.m. Memorial service for Willard will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday July 8, 2008 at the church with the Rev. Lyle Zumdahl officiating. Interment to follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson.

A memorial fund has been established in his name for various charities.

Lois E. Feudner

Lois E. Feudner, age 65, of 13 Applewood Dr., died on Saturday June 28, 2008 at St. Nicholas Hospital. She was born in Sheboygan on September 9, 1942 the daughter of the late Lester A. and Frieda Kober Wierzbach.

Lois attended South Side Jr. High, Central and South High School, graduating in 1961. On August 31, 1963 Lois was united in marriage to Michael J. Feudner in Sheboygan. She was employed at the Aurora Sheboygan Clinic in the business office.

Lois was a current member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was also a past member of the Sheboygan A’s and the Sheboygan Women’s Bowling Association. Lois enjoyed knitting, puzzles, reading and playing cards with friends and family. She also enjoyed wintering in Arizona where she loved water volleyball and the daily red chair happy hour.

She is survived by her husband; Michael J. Feudner, of Sheboygan, children; Kenneth R. (Anne) Feudner, of Sheboygan, Christine M. (Dave) DeBonis, of Germantown, and Jeffrey A. (Kaila) Feudner, of Sussex, grandchildren; Jasmin, Eric, Jacob, Alex, Zachary, Mariana, Peyton, sister; Elaine (Dave) Borgardt, of Sheboygan, sisters-in-law; Janis Wierzbach, of Sheboygan, Jan Feudner, of Sheboygan, brothers-in-law; Dick (Julie) Feudner, of Parker, CO, Steve (Dianne) Feudner, of Sheboygan, and John (Bonnie) Feudner, of Menasha. Lois is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roger Wierzbach, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Feudner, and a brother-in-law, James Feudner.

Funeral services for Lois will held on Tuesday July 1, 2008 at 11:00am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Alan Kubow officiating. Family and friends may call at the church 917 Mead Ave., on Tuesday morning from 9:00am until the time of service. Private internment will take place at a later date at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lois’s name and may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

SUSAN M. GARTMAN

Susan Marie Gartman, 59, of 2514 S. 17th Street passed away at her home on Saturday, July 5, 2008 with her family at her side.

Susan was born at St. Nicholas Hospital on October 15, 1948, a daughter of the late Aloys and Lillian (Koestler) Muehlbauer. She attended kindergarten at Washington School and went on to graduate from Holy Name Catholic School. She was a member of the 1966 graduating class of North High School. On May 21, 1967 Susan was united in marriage to Richard J. Gartman at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and together they raised six children. Susan had been employed at KFC- North, Piggly Wiggly South, Woodlake Market in Kohler and Evans in Sheboygan Falls. She was currently a member of Bethany Reformed Church.

Susan is survived by her husband Richard "Dick"; her children, Paul (Tina) Gartman of Deerbrook, WI, Alissa (Phil) Cummings, Philip Gartman and Rachel (Nick) Stampfel all of Sheboygan; and her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Steven Balde (Ashley Meyer) and their son, Connor, Brianna Cummings, Samantha Gartman, Naomi Cummings, Jacob Frericks, Rachel Cummings, William Gartman, Morgan Cummings, Ashley Frericks, Maranda Gartman, Morgen Stampfel, Dustin Gartman and Kyra Hesslink. She is further survived by her stepfather, Michael L. Hess of Sheboygan, brothers, Gene (Mary) Muehlbauer, of Menomonee Falls, Ronald (Jane) Muehlbauer of Pewaukee; stepbrothers and stepsisters Christina (Roger) Hiers, James (Julie) Hess, Laura (bob) Dumovich, Patrick Hess and Anne (John) Gordon, all of Sheboygan and Terry (Tim) Tyson of Madison; and a sister-in-law, Clara Hess of Sheboygan. Sue would also like to recognize her dear friends who added so much joy to her life, Linda and Dave Krupp of Green Bay and Michael Feudner and his late wife, Lois of Sheboygan. Susan was preceded in death by two sons, Roger Alan and Charles William, a brother, James Muehlbauer and a stepbrother, Michael Hess.

A memorial service for Susan will be held 6 pm, Thursday, July 10 at Bethany Reformed Church. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family at the church, 1315 Washington Ave. on Thursday from 4 pm until time of service at 6 pm.

Susan’s family would like to thank Dr. Matthews and St. Nicholas Palliative Care for the care and compassion given to her.

A memorial fund has been established in Susan’s name.

William G. Grunwald, Sr.

William G. Grunwald, Sr. age 66, of 2025 S. 26th St., died on Thursday June 26, 2008 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice following a courageous 8 year battle with cancer. He was born in Sheboygan on October 8, 1941, the son of the late George and Emily Fromm Grunwald.

He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Sheboygan Central High School, graduating in 1960. William then joined the U.S. Air Force, serving his country in Texas and Alaska from 1963 to 1967. On September 6, 1968 William was united in marriage to the former Joan Schmidt in Milwaukee.

William was employed at the Kohler company for 33 years, working as an electrician. He enjoyed woodworking, music, pottery, traveling, which included trips to Germany, Alaska and Las Vegas, and was a history and genealogy buff as well. As an amateur photographer he was a past 1st place winner in the Kohler International Photo Contest.

He is survived by his wife; Joan, of Sheboygan, sons; William (Christine) Grunwald Jr., of Sheboygan, John Grunwald, of Sheboygan; daughter; Jennifer Grunwald, of Sheboygan, grandson; Brayden Grunwald, sisters; Judy (Richard) Martin, of Appleton, Kay (Larry) Quasius, of Springfield, MO, and Patricia (Michael) Bubb, of Sheboygan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert Grunwald. William treasured the time he spent with his grandson along with those times spent with his children and family.

Funeral services for William will be held on Monday June 30, 2008 at 6:00pm at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home with Rev. John Berg of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home 1535 S. 12th St., on Monday afternoon from 2:00pm until the time of service.

William’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice team with special gratitude to Mary Anne, Joyce and Ellen. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and also thank the many friends who supported and helped William and his family during this time.

Allan W. Hoffman

Allan W. Hoffman, 73, of 1844 N. 19th St. passed away in his own nest with his family at his side on Friday morning, July 4, 2008.

Allan was born on June 30, 1935 in Sheboygan, a son of the late Alexander and Adeline (Grapentine) Hoffman. He attended schools in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. On February 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Shirley F. Brown in Sheboygan and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2001. Allan was a truck driver for the K. W. Muth Company, earning his two million mile award in 1982 and an accident free award in 1985. He enjoyed his family and would spend good times at his cabin in Eagle River fishing and driving his golf cart.

Allan was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Allan is survived by his two sons, Kim (Cheryl) Hoffman of Newton and Kip (Shelly) Hoffman of Oostburg; ten grandchildren, Kerri Hoffman, Jason Hoffman (Amy Krepling), Katey Hoffman, all of Sheboygan, Kelli (Chris) Gobin of Appleton, Crystal Hoffman of Sheboygan Falls, Maggie Hoffman of St. Louis, MO, Tyler Anderson, Karissa Anderson both of Oostburg and Dustin Koppelmann and Krysta Koppelmann both of Sheboygan; six great grandchildren, Brooke Hoffman, Autumn Hoffman, Willow Loefler, Lilly Hoffman, Ryan Hoffman and Peyton Gobin; a brother, Elroy (Marilyn) Hoffman of Sheboygan Falls and a sister-in-law, Loretta Hoffman of Sheboygan Falls. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon and a granddaughter Kristine Hoffman.

A funeral service for Allan will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, July 8 at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home with interment to be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service at 2 pm.

Allan’s family would like to thank Debbie Hoffman for her continued love, care and support and the staff of the Aurora VNA for the care and compassion shown to him.

MAX R. KLEWITZ, Jr.

Max R. Klewitz, Jr., 52, a quiet man with a sense of humor, residing at 824 Spring Ave. passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 1, 2008.

Max was born in Chicago on September 2, 1955, a son of the late Max R. and Marie (Buchwitz) Klewitz, Sr.. His family moved to Sheboygan in 1971 and he graduated from Sheboygan South High School. As a young man Max learned to play classical piano, studying with Mr. Schultz here in Sheboygan. His interest in music covered all genres including 50’s rock and roll, classical and jazz. He was an expert on the music and life of the classical pipe organist, the late Virgil Fox. Max also had a keen interest in things that were old, which included the architecture of buildings. He had a sense for family history and could relate to others many generations of stories involving their German-Prussian heritage. He had an interest in electronics and was very knowledgeable in radio, TV and short wave radio. He spent many years listening to shortwave radio and developed the ability to emulate dialects from all countries of the world, this led to his further ability to impersonate famous personalities He had a special interest in photography and would take the time to select and set up the perfect photograph.

Max is survived by his brother William Klewitz of Chicago; two cousins, Robert Jahnke and Linda Jahnke, both of Mountain View, CA; a very a close friend, Kathy Whitmore of Chicago and very longtime friends David and Suzanne Cohen of Waupaca.

A funeral service for Max will be held 1:30 pm, Tuesday, July 8 at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1535 S. 12th St. on Tuesday from 12:30 pm until the time of service at 1:30 pm.

Karen Parker

Karen Parker, age 58, of 1228 Alabama Ave., died on Friday June 27, 2008 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was born in Milwaukee on March 19, 1950, the daughter of Frederick and Agnes Peck Zellmer.

Karen attended Florence High School, graduating in 1968. On June 29, 1968 she was united in marriage to Marvin Parker in Tipler, WI. She was employed at Hardee’s Restaurant on Taylor Drive for over 10 years. Karen enjoyed reading books, puzzles, collecting owls and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband; Marvin Parker, of Sheboygan, daughter; Jennifer (Mark) Karsten, of Plymouth, son; Fred (Dena) Parker, of Sheboygan, grandchildren; Samantha, Nicole, Rachel, parents; Frederick Zellmer, of Beaver Dam and Agnes Edwards, of Beaver Dam, brother; Randy (Marj) Zellmer, of West Allis, sisters; Pat (Al) Vandeberg, of Waupun and Lori (Paul) Apfelbeck, of Theresa. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her step-father, Ivan Edwards.

Funeral services for Karen will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home. Family and friends may call at the funeral home 1535 S. 12th St., from 5:00pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Columbus Hillside Cemetery in Columbus, WI.

Karen’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Memorial Hospital and St. Luke’s Medical Center, also Dr. Brooks and his staff and the dialysis Center at the Sheboygan Clinic.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Karen’s name.

Ethel M. Prettie

Ethel M. Prettie, (nee Schnuelle) age 78, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Superior. She lived in Sheboygan until 2004, when she relocated to Superior. Ethel was born January 16, 1930 in Sheboygan County to Arthur and Franciska (Zimmerman) Schnuelle. Ethel graduated from Howards Grove High School, class of 1947. She attended Lakeland College, class of 1979, and took numerous classes at Lakeshore Technical College.

Ethel was a manager of Abode and Norma Klein Share Care Home, Bethany Manor and worked at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home as a cook. She also took care of children at the YMCA.

She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1943 in Howards Grove. She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Sheboygan. Ethel was a volunteer at the Salvation Army for more than 16 years and active in the Midwest Association for the Blind, Badger Home for the Blind, Manitowoc Braille Club and AARP 338 as a secretary.

She is survived by three children; a daughter, Jean Prettie of Superior, two sons, John J. (Sandy) Prettie of Plymouth and James A. Prettie of Tomah; a brother, Elord (Joan) Schnuelle of Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Jamie (Taylor) Kelly and John Prettie, both of Las Vegas, and one great- grandchild, Mason, of Sheboygan.

Ethel was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, Oscar, Elroy, Glenroy, Arthur, Virginia and Arlene Schnuelle.

Family and friends may call at the Sunrise Memorial Garden Chapel on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 from 1-2 p.m. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chapel with the Rev. Alan Kubow from Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.

THELMA L. RUEHL

Thelma L. Ruehl, age 90, a resident of Terrace Estates passed away there early Wednesday morning, June 18, 2008.

Thelma was born on March 31, 1918 in Oxford, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances (Purdy) Evans. She attended schools in Sheboygan and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School. On January 23, 1943 she was united in marriage to Frederick Ruehl at Fountain Park United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1991.

Thelma was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church where prior to her retirement had been the church secretary. She was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women’s Society along with being very active in other areas of the church.

Thelma, a loving mother and grandmother, is survived by three daughters: Judith (William) Gordon, Kathleen (Richard) Manny, both of Sheboygan and Patricia (James) Krol of Wauwatosa; nine grandchildren: Douglas Gordon, Michelle (Peter) Dalva, Annette (Stephen) Lampe, Amanda (Larry) Schneider, Emily (Andrew Bolognia) Green, Margaret Green, Justin Krol, Michael Krol and Katie Krol; six great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Mary) Evans of Sheboygan and nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers, a sister, and her best friend of 57 years, Mildred Berg.

A funeral service for Thelma will be held 12 noon, Monday, June 23 at Fountain Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Kerry Wilson, pastor, officiating. A private burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church, N. 9th St. and Erie Ave. on Monday from 10:30 am until the time of service at noon.

A memorial fund in Thelma’s name has been established for Fountain Park United Methodist Church.

Thelma’s family would like to express their appreciation and extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Terrace Estates and the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital Hospice. Their kindness will be remembered.
